Alumni Recognition Awards
We are thrilled to announce the distinguished recipients of the 2024 Boylan Catholic High School Alumni Awards. These thirteen individuals exemplify the spirit and mission of Boylan Catholic through their outstanding personal and professional achievements. Join us in honoring them at the Alumni Recognition Awards on Thursday, September 26th, at 5:30 p.m. in the Boylan Bachrodt Center.
The Alumni Awards Committee carefully reviewed all the nominations submitted and selected the following honorees:
The Veritas Award, Boylan’s highest honor, will be bestowed upon Joe T'60 & Cookie M'62 Scandroli, who embody Boylan’s mission of service in their community.
Honorary Alumnus status will be conferred on Father F. William Etheredge and Paul Heitkamp, recognizing their significant contributions to Boylan’s values despite not being alumni themselves.
The Outstanding Teacher Award will be presented to Katie Schmid '84, Sister M. Beatrix O.S.F. & Sister M. Corneil O.S.F. (posthumously), in recognition of their exemplary dedication and impact on generations of students.
The Alumni Excellence Award will celebrate the achievements of Linda Underwood '74, Jeffrey Hohn '87, J. Hanley '96, Courtney Hand '00, and Kevin Haas '00, for their outstanding contributions to their communities, churches, and businesses.
Sarah Knodle '11 will receive the Young Alumnus Award, recognizing her remarkable achievements since graduating within the last fifteen years.
We are immensely proud to celebrate their accomplishments and to honor them as true Titans of Boylan Catholic High School. All Boylan alumni and friends are invited to join us in celebrating these exceptional individuals and their ongoing commitment to excellence as they continue to strive to be Saints, Scholars, and Champions in their respective fields and communities.

Nomination Criteria
Every year, we invite the Boylan community to nominate a graduate who reflects our school’s mission in her or his profession, volunteerism, community involvement, affiliations, and relationship with others. The awards are conferred on the recipients during a ceremony held on the Thursday night of our annual Homecoming week celebrations each fall.
Please consider nominating a graduate of Boylan (or non-graduate in the case of Honorary Alumnus or Outstanding Teacher) for this prestigious award using the nomination form below. Please note: the selection committee is seeking well-rounded and descriptive nominations. The more thorough a nomination, the better.
Every member of the Boylan community - alumni, current parents, past parents, benefactors, and friends - are invited to participate in the Alumni Recognition Awards. Please note: applications are considered valid for a period of five years after. If you have nominated someone in the past, you do not need to nominate them again (but are welcome too).
Veritas Award
The Veritas Award recognizes a graduate of Boylan or of our heritage schools, St. Thomas and Muldoon, who models the essence of Catholic secondary education: lives the truth (Veritas) as taught and lived by Jesus Christ.
This graduate may be one of great standing in his or her community or one who serves his fellows, family, or community through quiet dedication to Christian ideals. Through a life of service, this person uses his or her gifts to further Christ's teachings and is thereby an inspiration to peers as well as to Boylan's students. This graduate may come from any walk of life or any part of the country.
Alumni, current parents, past parents, friends, faculty, and students may make nominations every year. The nominee must be a graduate of Boylan, St. Thomas, or Muldoon. Posthumous nominations will be accepted. Click here to submit a nomination for the Veritas Award.
