After receiving her bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Iowa, Mrs. Hastings worked as a substitute teacher and then as a paraprofessional at Easter Seals Therapeutic Day School. She then spent two years working in higher education. First, as a financial aid officer and a VA certifying official at Rockford Career College and then as a pathway coordinator at Rock Valley College where she worked with school administrators to create dual credit classes that were taught at the high school by the high school employees. In her free time, Mrs. Hastings enjoys watching sports with her husband Jordan, especially their favorite teams, the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Atlanta Braves. During the summer, she loves spending time outside watching softball.
