The Catholic Church recognizes December 12th as the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The apparition of Our Lady to St. Juan Diego in 1531, and the image that resulted from her appearance, is one of the most sacred images in the world, especially in Mexican culture. This year, to celebrate the feast day, Boylan teachers, students, and administration have put together various projects and events for the day.

For several weeks leading up to the feast day, Art and Diversity Clubs joined forces to create a beautiful patchwork rendition of the image of Our Lady, currently on display in the Boylan library. On the morning of December 12th, the daily morning Mass was specially dedicated to Our Lady, and culminated with a blessing of the tapestry by Boylan Spiritual Director Fr. Finn. The Mass and blessing were also followed by a short reception for all who attended.

During school hours, every student was shown a 22-minute informational video about the feast day, the history of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and what the day means to Mexican culture throughout the centuries since her apparation. Click here to view the video.

Well done to all who organized and participated in this fantastic celebration of Mexican heritage and our school's Catholic identity! Special thanks to Mrs. Missy Minardi, Ms. Gretchen Stark, and Mr. Mike Wedwick, faculty moderators of Art and Diversity Clubs, who empowered our students to propose and complete the art project.
