On Saturday, November 25th, as part of the 54th Annual Thanksgiving Basketball Invitational, Boylan Titan Basketball hosted a special dedication of the newly refurbished Main Gym floor as “Steve Goers Court” in honor of former coach and teacher Steve Goers.
The event featured a reception in the cafeteria and a dedication ceremony following.
Coach Goers is the winningest coach in Boylan history, and is among the winningest in IHSA history, earning him a spot in the Illinois High School Basketball Hall of Fame. Goers coached Boys Basketball at Boylan for 31 years, bringing the Titans to multiple state playoff appearances during his time with the school. At his retirement from Boylan, Goers’s final record with the Titans was 752-206, an impressive feat.
Goers was in attendance at the event, and said a few words about his time at Boylan and the honor of the floor dedication. Joining him were several of the player he coached and their families, as well as nearly two-dozen members of Goers's own family.
