Congratulations to Netavia Wickson, who took home yet another IHSA Girls Wrestling State Championship February 24th down in Bloomington.
Netavia and the rest of the Boylan Wrestling team is coached by Netavia’s father, Dathan Wickson assisted by Dathan Wickson Jr.. She ended her 23-24 regular season with an impressive 23-2 individual record. She won the 2024 title down in Bloomington after an undefeated 4-match run in the tournament and a huge 19-5 Major Decision win over Madeline Zerafa-Lazarevi of Schaumburg H.S. She was one of three NIC-10 female wrestlers to take home a title in their respective weight classes.
This is Netavia’s second-straight state title and third-straight appearance in the state championship match. This past summer, Netavia also represented the state of Illinois at the 2023 USA Wrestling Junior National Championships, where she earned 3rd place in the nation in the 138 lb weight class. As we celebrate Netavia and her accomplishments, the Boylan community looks forward to seeing what she will continue to do as she graduates from Boylan Catholic this spring and continues her academic and wrestling careers.
