Announcements & News

On Friday, April 19, Boylan Catholic High School sent its freshman and sophomore classes, 274 students in total, out into the Rockford community to do a day of service in cooperation with the United Way of Rock River Valley (UWRRV).

The event, called the Boylan Day of Caring, mobilized hundreds of students into 17 different sites in the greater Rockford area. They were be accompanied by 27 Boylan faculty and staff members, also distributed amongst the sites.

This was the second Day of Caring for Boylan; the first took place on October 20, 2023, when Boylan sent out 341 students and staff to various locations in Rockford, some of which were on the list again for the spring event. Boylan’s plan for coming years is to continue the biannual model for the Days of Caring, with one group of students participating in the fall and another group in the spring.

The Boylan Day of Caring speaks to the missions of both Boylan Catholic High School and UWRRV, both of which stress the importance of commitment to service. This event and future Days of CAring help educate the young members of our community on the issues of homelessness, immigration, poverty, help for veterans and the elderly, hunger, and how organizations in our local area combat the need in our city and region. Boylan has always included a service requirement as part of its annual curriculum, and looks forward to seeing how this event will expand the school’s impact in the area.
