Boylan Catholic High School announces that after nine successful seasons as Head Boys Basketball Coach, Brett McAllister has made the difficult decision to step down from his position.
Coach McAllister’s tenure has been defined by his unwavering commitment to the program and his dedication to shaping young athletes both on and off the court. Over his nine seasons as head coach, he compiled an impressive record of 167 wins and 108 losses while leading the Titans to:
- 3 NIC-10 Titles
- 6 Regional Titles
- 1 Sectional Title
McAllister first joined the Boylan coaching staff in 2009 as the Head Freshman Boys Basketball Coach. In 2010, he transitioned to the Head Sophomore Coach role, where he continued to develop young talent. His dedication and leadership led to his appointment as Head Varsity Coach in 2016, a role he has held for the past nine seasons.
In reflecting on his decision, McAllister shared: "After careful consideration and discussion with my family, I have decided to resign as head coach of the Boylan boys basketball program. I am forever grateful to Boylan Athletics for the opportunity to fulfill my dream of becoming a head basketball coach. I will cherish the last 16 years of coaching in this program. I want to personally thank all of the players I have had the opportunity to lead. Coaching our players to become the best version of themselves was always my first priority. My first season as head coach was in 2016. One month before that season began, my wife gave birth to our first child. Over the next nine years, while leading this program, our family has grown to four kids. We currently have four children ages eight and under. It is clearly time for me to put more focus on being their dad. I want to thank my wife, Erin, and my family for their unending support over the last nine seasons. Being the head coach of a program requires relentless sacrifices, and this has been a major challenge for our young family over the last nine years. While each season has become more difficult, we have enjoyed this journey as a family and will always cherish many great memories."
Boylan Catholic High School Athletic Director, Paul Heitkamp, expressed his gratitude for McAllister’s years of dedication: "We are so grateful for Brett’s leadership over the last nine years. He worked constantly to live the mission and vision of Boylan Catholic as he coached our young men, helping them improve their skills and work as a team, but more importantly, being a role model and mentor to our young people. We are thankful for his commitment."
While McAllister will be stepping away from coaching, he will continue to make a profound impact on Boylan students as a dedicated and respected Social Science teacher. His passion for education and mentorship will remain a guiding force in the classroom, where he will continue to help develop and inspire young minds.
The school will immediately begin the search for a new head coach to continue building upon the strong foundation McAllister has established.
