On Tuesday, March 18, Boylan Catholic High School will host its annual Day of Caring, a school-wide initiative dedicated to serving the Rockford community. As part of this effort, the entire Freshman Class will spend the morning volunteering at Carpenter’s Place, Rock House Kids, Rockford Rescue Mission, and St. Elizabeth Center to support those in need.
Media are invited to visit these service sites to see the students in action, speak with organization representatives, and witness firsthand the impact of Boylan’s commitment to community service.
In preparation for this day of service, students will learn about each organization and the critical role they play in assisting vulnerable populations in our community. Service is embedded in Boylan’s curriculum, with all students required to complete service hours as part of their education. The Day of Caring reinforces Boylan’s dedication to service and aligns with the school’s foundational values of Justice, Stewardship, and Servant Leadership.
In addition to the Freshman Class’s volunteer efforts, the entire Boylan community will participate in a Lenten Donation Drive, collecting essential items to support the organizations where the freshmen will be serving. This initiative provides an opportunity for all students to contribute to the school’s mission of faith in action.
“At Boylan, service is more than just a requirement—it’s a calling,” said Lisa St. John, Academic Advisor and Service Program Coordinator. “The Day of Caring allows our students to put their faith into action, helping those in need and strengthening their connection to the community.”
